Building Science Inc is a privately held corporation, incorporated in Richmond, Virginia in 1991.
BSI operates in Central Virginia, as far west as Charlottesville and Lynchburg, north to Fredericksburg, south below the Tri-Cities area, east to Hampton Roads and the Chesapeake Bay. BSI consults on a national as well as local basis.
BSI is a full service Home Performance Improvement company, beginning with the Home Energy Audit. We also perform all necessary contracting work indicated by the audit, addressing all contributing factors. These are: infiltration, insulation, duct leakage and design, Heating/Cooling or Air Conditioning/Ventilation, building design, air quality, building health (mold, mildew, infestation evidence, etc), weather strip on [attic, basement, crawlspace as well as passenger] doors, moisture control, combustion appliances, windows, and any owner sited issues such as extreme indoor temperatures. We finish with a Quality Assurance inspection that includes final testing, which documents the improvement’s effectiveness. BSI can often provide guarantees for Energy Savings and Comfort improvements going out into the future.
Since multiple work disciplines are involved in corrective improvements, BSI is able to efficiently coordinate, internally, the sequence of work (sealing must precede insulation!), quality checking as we go. The result is a minimal period of homeowner inconvenience in the shortest possible construction window. There is only one company to hold accountable for results. We pride ourselves in leaving job sites as clean as possible.
