An EEM is a way to provide additional money for cost effective energy conservation upgrades to an existing home at the time of purchase or refinancing. It can benefit many parties in the transaction with a minimal increase in paperwork:
While slightly less funding is available from an EEM than a 203k and 203k Streamlined mortgages, there is no need to qualify for the extra funding! The paperwork is vastly simpler than these home improvement vehicles.
Once the mortgage value and financing are set, the borrower is automatically qualified for extra EEM funds ranging up to $28,000. With the minimal cost of an initial Home Energy Rating, the process is launched, followed by the contactor work, post work rating, and ended at the Certificate of Completion.
Building Science Inc is the home energy rater you need, as well as the home improvement and weatherization contractor you need. We have streamlined the process and know how to avoid the potential pitfalls that can occur with less experienced companies. Building Science makes the process seamless for all involved.
EEMs (and EIMs) are widely available, being sponsored by federally insured mortgage programs (FHA and VA) and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the conventional secondary mortgage market. Lender’s products are conventional EEMs, FHA EEMs, or VA EEMs.
The Energy Savings are Guaranteed by Building Science Inc if we do the weatherization work. See our WeatherWi$e Guarantee program.
