HVAC Load Calculations and Improvement Scenarios

Building Science Inc uses up-to-date software to convert your home and site plans into a precise load analysis (Manual J, in the industry speak). The model can then also be used to simulate improvements or changes in material or design that affect the building’s performance.

This is critical for several reasons:

1. It is expensive to purchase more tonnage than is necessary
2. Oversized equipment can actually lead to less customer comfort and more complaints. Oversized equipment tends to run less than it should to properly dehumidify the air (in cooling mode).
3. The error-checking programming considers all features of a building system, such as orientation and envelop characteristics, without allowing a vital factor to be left out of consideration.

In addition, Building Science Inc, if involved early in the planning process, can work as a consultant on what changes will most cost effectively improve the energy and comfort performance of a home by calculating the energy costs of each building scenario.
