Mold and Indoor Air Quality Diagnosis and Remediation


Building Science Inc is trained in knowing the type molds are present indoors on building surfaces or in building materials in Virginia. We know they need moisture and something organic to eat. We don’t treat superficial mold contamination while ignoring the more serious problem of the food and drink sources in the structure.

Summer outdoor temperatures with its humidity leak into the house to condense on colder interior surfaces to sponsor mold growth. Air thick with organic odors and family members with a chronic runny nose are cautionary signals: mold has made a home in your home. Note: mold self tester kits can be inaccurate such that we don’t recommend them. We use a hygrometer to check for Relative Humidity and Dewpoint, and a Moisture Content meter on the building materials of your home.

Mold is omnipresent outside in Virginia. Mold is part of the natural decay process. However, there is no reason it cannot be managed to near extinction indoors to prevent take-over of your walls, furniture, bedding, and ceilings.

Without active mold, there is no release of airborne spores. Then, allergies, asthmatic reactions, eye, nose and throat irritations or possible infections, sinus issues, and other respiratory congestions are all minimized.

Dry-Rot
